    亚博官方网站 researcher Andreas Papaefstathiou has received a three-year, $799,651 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to investigate the nature of nuclear matter through collisions of particles at high energies. The findings from Papaefstathiou鈥檚 research will help elevate the study of particle physics in the context of nuclear collisions at Kennesaw State, as well as help improve the understanding and interpretation of data coming out of the proposed Electron Ion Collider at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York.

    Raised by a mother and stepfather who were therapeutic foster parents, Corey Creek has always seemed destined to impact the lives of those in need. In fact, his mother long ago had a premonition that he would follow in her footsteps teaching special education. Fifteen years later, Creek would go on to earn his Master of Education in Special Education from 亚博官方网站鈥檚 Bagwell College of Education, bringing his mother鈥檚 dream to fruition. He credits his nurturing home environment for exposing him to children with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and inspiring him to carve his own path in special education.

    Kennesaw State alumna to compete in international Deaflympics games in Tokyo

    Tawnecia Rush 鈥24 has worn hearing aids since she was 9 years old. In conversation, she focuses intently on the people she鈥檚 speaking with, supplementing what she hears with expert lip reading. Occasionally, she says 鈥淧ardon?鈥 when she needs a speaker to repeat what they鈥檝e said. On the basketball court, communication was always much more fluid. Since she began playing with her father and brothers as a child at the Boys and Girls Club, Rush鈥檚 hearing impairment has never hindered her. Two decades later, her abilities have earned her a spot on the USA Deaf Women鈥檚 Basketball team, which will compete in the Deaflympics in Tokyo over two weeks in November.

    Two 亚博官方网站 architecture graduates are gaining international recognition for their innovative design work, earning top honors from two prestigious competitions for a detailed drawing of the 亚博官方网站 Field Station greenhouses and research facilities. Sean Spencer and Nelson Agalaba, who graduated in May from the 亚博官方网站 College of Architecture and Construction Management, received the Award of Distinction from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI) and were named finalists in the Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation (KRob) Competition.
